I love hosting parties and gatherings for my friends, and we can all agree that the center of the party is always the alcohol. Being the somewhat over-the-top person that I am, I’m always trying to come up with fun mixed drinks and spritzers for every event. My favorite cocktails and spritzers involve a blend of fresh ingredients such as herbs, fruits, florals, and aromatics to create a full-flavor experience.

I recently created this lovely blackberry spritzer for my annual Christmas party, and it turned out to be a refreshing beverage that I can see working for a variety of seasonal events from spring to winter. The best part is that it’s quick and easy to make in large batches with minimal effort. If you’re looking to make a virgin version, simply skip the vodka and you’ll have a not-too-sweet sipper that everyone can enjoy.

“The leaves, roots, and berries of blackberries were used as a medicinal herb by Native American tribes, including the Cherokee, Kiowa-Apache, Chippewa, Ojibwa, Menominee, Delaware, and Iroquois. Decoctions were made to treat a variety of ailments from lung problems to sore throats.”

Blackberry Lavender Vodka Spritzer

CourseDrinks
Servings15 people

Ingredients

  • 750 mL Vodka
  • 2 qt Club Soda
  • 3 packages Fresh Blackberries
  • 1 cup Fresh Mint
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Lavender Syrup (my favorite brand is Monin)
  • 1/2 cup Lime Juice

Instructions

  • Add blackberries and mint to a drink dispenser or pitcher. Muddle together until a thick juice forms. It is okay to have chunks or even a few whole berries remaining.
  • Add sugar and lavender syrup and continue muddling. Then, add club soda, vodka, and lime juice, and stir to combine.
  • Adjust ingredients to taste by adding more lavender syrup, lime juice, or vodka to your flavor preference.
  • Serve over ice.
