One of my favorite things about Bali was its incredibly delicious food and trendy bars. Just a disclaimer: this list is going to be insanely long, because honestly, there’s way too many incredible places to name, but they’re all worth mentioning. Several of the places below came as recommendations from my Aussie friends who’ve been traveling to Bali on holiday for YEARS, so you know they’re good. Apart from their recommendations, all of our other finds have come from simply racing through Bali on a motorbike (with Ryan driving because I one hundred percent do not trust myself) and stumbling into some really neat spots. So without further ado, let’s get into our absolute favorite spots to eat and drink!

Berawa

Peloton Supershop

First on our list is our MOST favorite breakfast and lunch spot: Peloton Supershop. If we could eat here every day, we probably would! Located in the Berawa neighborhood between Seminyak and Canggu, Peloton is a breezy, casual cafe that serves up the most delicious vegan, plant-based plates that I’ve ever tasted. This is a must-stop if you’re in Bali – trust me.

What to order:

A few of our favorites include the Blue Island Bowl, Avo Good Day, Breakaway Burrito and Pantani Porridge. They also have some delicious Ayurvedic drinks and teas! But honestly, everything here is awesome and definitely won’t disappoint.

La Laguna

Literally a gypsy wonderland. The owners of La Laguna thought into every magical detail possible when putting this laid-back haven together. Think hanging lanterns, fortune teller carriages, colorful cushions… the whole nines. We really loved coming here for a sunset dinner and enjoying the relaxing vibes and ocean views. They have a few different areas to sit, so if you’re looking for something specific, be sure to call ahead for a reservation, as it can sometimes get a bit busy around sunset.

Green Ginger Noodle House

We loved this tiny little vegetarian restaurant! This place gave us the largest amount of food for the least amount of money – and was definitely tasty if you’re looking for something more low-key. They offer a selection of various Asian food such as Pad Thai, Pho, and Curry. Ask to sit outside on their patio – it feels more intimate and private!

Two Trees Eatery

We stopped by Two Trees for a quick refreshment on the way to the beach! This open-air spot is a chill place that serves literally everything under the sun – from coffees and fresh juices to teas, unicorn lattes, smoothies, alcoholic beverages, and an entire menu of any type of food you can ask for. You really can’t go wrong here, and the modern and simplistic environment is nothing short of photo-ready.

Milu

The sister restaurant to one of our regular breakfast spots called Nook, Milu boasts a beautiful open-aired restaurant with cozy seating overlooking a private rice terrace. This low-key but trendy spot serves up breakfast and lunch with some incredibly fresh ingredients that’s definitely worth a try when you’re in the mood for a relaxing and delicious meal.

Canggu

The Lawn

I highly recommend making a reservation at The Lawn for a sunset dinner – it gets packed – but it’s definitely worthwhile. Strong, flavorful drinks, ocean views, live music, an on-site pool and an upper deck with a swing – what more can you ask for?! Located right on Old Man’s beach, The Lawn is a another must-go when you’re in Canggu.

What to order:

You can’t visit The Lawn without grabbing one of their craft cocktails! We love the Chilli Sour and Coconut Mojito, and you can’t go wrong with their food either; try the Lemongrass Chicken & Turmeric Skewers or the Gado Gado Zucchini Noodles – and thank us later.

Give Cafe

This tiny little plant-based spot is the sister cafe to the IG-famous Kynd Community, with just as many photo-worthy spots and a laid-back vibe. I’m not joking when I say that Ryan and I couldn’t get enough of Give. Literally our second favorite place to eat in Bali after Peloton Supershop. Did I mention that 100% of their proceeds go to local charities? After purchasing your meal, you’ll receive a wooden coin that you can drop in the bucket of your choice to support charities focused on the environment, human welfare, or wildlife protection.

What to order:

Their vegan Mie Goreng (Southeast Asian noodle stir fry) is hands down incredible, and is basically the dish that kept us coming back (brb, currently drooling just thinking about it…). Apart from that, we enjoyed their Cheekan Satay, Dirty Matcha latte, and their tasty baked goods and cookies (…okay, the sweets were really only for me).

Nook

Super low-key but situated directly on a rice field with great food and a cute home décor section in the back (a major plus for me), Nook is tucked away in the Umalas area of the island and serves up fresh juices and tasty breakfast and lunch food. One of the mornings we came here, it started gently raining over the rice fields, and made for one of the most relaxing breakfasts I’ve ever experienced.

What to order:

Their Smashed Avocado on Crusty Bread with Poached Eggs has some really great flavors and textures, and you can never go wrong with their Smoothie Bowls. I also ordered this strange but weirdly addicting dish one time called The Watermelon Sandwich – slices of watermelon served on top of their crusty bread with homemade veggie cream cheese. Yes, I know it sounds disgusting, but it was surprisingly tasty and now that we’re on the subject, I’m sort of actually craving it right now…

Shady Shack

This little bohemian cafe looks pretty unassuming from the road, but houses some really great vegan options if you’re craving a refreshing and healthy lunch. Overgrown foliage has formed a canopy over their outdoor seating, and the casual vibe here is great for a mid-day bite.

What to order:

We really loved the Protein Bowl and Nori Bowl, and I couldn’t help but order their Choc Tops Smoothie – which is actually made with some really healthy ingredients!

La Brisa

Ryan and I came here for a few sunset beers after a day in the water, and we really loved the chill vibe and relaxing music, so much so that we stayed until dark when the wooden walkways and overhanging palm trees lit up with festival lights. Almost like a treehouse on the sands of Echo Beach, La Brisa serves up more than just beers – they have a full bar plus a menu with tapas, salads, and even breakfast food.

Finns Beach Club

Seemingly a bit more “upscale” for a Bali beach club, Finns is one of the most popular day clubs on the island. Located right on the sand at Berawa Beach with a pool overlooking the ocean, Finns has hosted popular DJs and artists including Khalid, Martin Solveig, Clean Bandit and Robin Schulz, to name a few. I had gotten pretty sick earlier in our trip, so by the time we came here, all I ordered was a giant fresh coconut water (lame, I know) but I still had a great time regardless!

Potato Head Beach Club

We had so much fun at Potato Head! Another popular day club in Bali, Potato Head has ocean views with strong drinks, an onsite infinity pool and really delicious food. I recommend booking a daybed here – it only requires a minimum food and drink spend (which we easily achieved with two people) and comes with a personal waiter. Yes, please.

What to order:

The Dirty Nachos with Pulled Jackfruit were so delicious, and we also snacked on some Sweet Potato Fries that were lightly dusted with charcoal salt. In terms of beverages, we ordered the Guava Good Day and Jungle Swirl, and may or may not have finished the entire Bali Boat (literally a boat of alcohol meant to serve five people).

Seminyak

La Favela

Another insanely decorated place – same owners as La Laguna – La Favela quite literally feels like you’re walking into an old-school Brazilian favela, with no detail left unnoticed. We loved coming here for dinner just as much as we loved exploring the restaurant and upper deck with a drink in-hand. For some reason, this place always makes me feel like I’m on the set of Narcos, in the best way possible.

What to order:

Ryan and I split the Mexico Meets Asia tacos and the Granny’s Oven grilled chicken, and for drinks I ordered a Favela Breeze while Ryan got something I believe was called Boom Boom? It was some sort of shot that they banged on the table and it exploded – it was a whole thing, but definitely entertaining!

Aya Street

I LOVE Aya Street. The ambiance, the drinks, the food, all of the IG-ready photo ops – were nothing short of creative. The feel is almost like playful street art vibes meets Peruvian cuisine, and it just works. I think my favorite part of Aya was definitely their drinks!

What to order:

To eat, I got the Classic Ceviche and Ryan got the Chicken Skewers – both were SO delicious – and we ordered the Chocolate Sphere for dessert, which melted down with a pour-over of hot chocolate syrup. Yum. For drinks, we ordered the Duck Lips (complete with a rubber ducky floating on top), Booty Call, Thyme ‘O Clock and bubbling Espresso Ayatini.

Revolver Cafe

We stopped by the famous Revolver Cafe for a quick refresher while we were walking around the boutiques in Seminyak. Located down an unassuming “alleyway” of sorts, Revolver is definitely awesome from the moment you walk through the two wooden doors and sit down amongst their artfully decorated walls. We didn’t grab any food here, but did get a cup of coffee and tea, and the waiters were really awesome to chat with!

Motel Mexicola

Definitely a party, party, party vibe! If you’re trying to come here for dinner, I recommend making a reservation – it gets PACKED. As you can assume from the name, the food is Mexican and the drinks are strong. It was loud and rowdy in there, but was a great time! They even have a dance floor in the middle of the restaurant that you can pop over to – there were plenty of people vibing, so no chance of feeling awkward or like people were watching you.

Ubud

Clear Cafe

A great lunch spot with a yogi vibe! We took our shoes off at the door and walked through what felt like a treehouse, up wooden staircases scattered with flower petals and lots of greenery strewn throughout. Clear Cafe is a cool hangout with a gigantic menu, so you’re sure to find a dish to suit your preferences. They have plenty of vegan options here as well, with various dishes inspired by places around the world, including Thailand, India, Mexico and the Middle East, and of course, traditional Indonesian fare. Honestly, you can’t go wrong here, and what I loved the most was the fact that I was barefoot amongst the greenery on the second floor of the airy restaurant overlooking the tiny streets of Ubud. It couldn’t get any better than that!

What to order:

I opted for a classic Balinese dish – Nasi Campur – which has small portions of different foods (almost like a sampler plate, if you will) of tempeh, rice, vegetables, curries, and more.

Kismet

This was definitely my favorite restaurant in Ubud! Situated down a quiet little street in Ubud, the restaurant is dark but comfortable, and serves both drinks and food with amazing spices. We came here for a quiet, intimate dinner, but I believe they also serve breakfast and lunch food if you’re in the area! The cuisine ranges from Asian-inspired options to classic Italian, French and even American options – all with a classy, thoughtful touch.

What to order:

To drink, I ordered the Mango Rujah, which was SO spicy. Omg. I was definitely sweating – but it was tasty! I believe Ryan got a Margarita – they offer tons of awesome flavors for these, including Hibiscus, Passionfruit, and Coconut. For dinner, we split the Garlic Chili Edamame and Bali Pad Thai – both of which had some awesome flavors!

Milk & Madu

We’d been wanting to come here for breakfast or lunch, but never found the chance to, so we only stopped in for a quick refreshment while we were walking around the town. Definitely one of the newer, trendy spots in Ubud (I believe they have one other location in Bali), Milk & Madu is set in a beautiful building with large, bright windows and wooden architecture. We came here for a quick coffee and tea, but had a glance at the menu which looked delicious! Next time we’re in town, we’re definitely planning on popping in for breakfast.

Uluwatu

Rock Bar

I highly recommend coming to Rock Bar for sunset dinner! I realize I’ve recommended a lot of sunset dinners at this point… but honestly, this place is quite literally built into the rocks, right over the ocean. Located at the Ayana Resort, you’ll take a small elevator down to the restaurant only to be greeted with stunning views and amazing service. The food was also delicious (and felt fancy), as did the drinks.

What to order:

Their Goong Sarong was so yummy! It’s basically prawns wrapped in crispy noodles – sounds weird but was so so good, especially dipped in chili sauce. I’m pretty sure we ordered two rounds of these… We also ordered the Summer Rolls, which were nice and refreshing. To drink, we had the Rock My World and Taragon Margarita. Mmmm.

Suka Espresso

We didn’t get to try many places while we were in Uluwatu because we were there during Nyepi (Bali’s silent day, during which all businesses on the island shut down), however we did ride our way over to Suka Espresso for a quick mid-afternoon coffee and snack. This Australian-style cafe serves up all-day breakfast and lunch, with a long menu of various coffees, teas, smoothies and shakes.

What to order:

I opted for the Matcha Man Chia Pudding, which, not to be confused with your average chia pudding, included matcha powder (of course), along with pineapples, bananas, and a few other tasty toppings. YUM.

Omnia

Okay, a lot of us have been to various Omnia locations around the world – but I was definitely not expecting the chilled out vibes, yummy food, and let’s not forget the INSANE views. Literally. Omnia Uluwatu is built on the side of a cliff with pools and views overlooking nothing but the bluest waters and serene landscape. It’s really breathtaking and makes for some awesome pictures – no filter needed. We went shortly after their grand opening, so we didn’t pay a cover charge and didn’t have to wait in a line. The vibe was much more laid-back than we were expecting (definitely not the pool party feel that we were thinking), but there was plenty of room to float around with a delicious drink in-hand. One thing I would advise, and I’m not sure if this has changed recently, but they did not have any lockers to store personal items and we didn’t have a cabana or table to leave our things at (they also aren’t allowed to hold anything at the front desk), so we had to leave our bag and clothes on a random bench in the club while we were in the pool (and if you know me, I’m paranoid AF). They did have a really friendly worker who offered to watch over our items, which was awesome – he literally stayed with our things, along with a bunch of other guests’ things, and watched over them until we were ready to go. So just know this ahead of time and prepare accordingly!

Kuta

Crumb & Coaster

If you read my previous post about our favorite places to stay in Bali, you’ll know the funny story behind why we ended up in Kuta. Crazy enough, we actually stumbled upon a really cute cafe right in the middle of our “adventure”, called Crumb & Coaster. The space was light and airy, with refreshing food like smoothies, avocado toast and açai bowls – perfect for a balmy morning in Bali, and mellow enough to feel relaxed amidst the hustle and bustle of Kuta.

Phew! Okay that list was LONG. But hopefully this is helpful for your next trip to the island. If you’d like any other recommendations, feel free to reach out – I’d love to connect with you!

Until next time ,

xx
